“You can kill someone with kindness. Be positive. Help others and others will help you.”
I’m pretty quirky when it comes to lifestyle blogging. I don’t know, I’m kinda derpy. That’s the problem, well no that’s not the problem. It’s different on social media. I don’t know if [lifestyle bloggers] are actually cool in real life. I’ve never been cool. I don’t try to be cool. And I guess I’m not as a result, cool. That’s something that I’ve always been struggling with. Lifestyle does well, because a lot of people want to ‘be you’. But I’m not sure if people want to ‘be me.'”
Crystal Pang (@VeganEatsNYC) is all about eating healthy, loving your body, and finding peace and happiness in life. All of which she has attributed to a vegan lifestyle that she has fearlessly maintained ever since the age of 12. Crystal was a rebellious teenager who called herself a vegan activist, advocating against animal abuse and cruelty. She watched a short video called, “Meet Your Meat” and instantly cut out meat in her diet. And in high school, she went through “half-emo” phases where she dyed her hair six times from red and blue to orange and blonde. Eventually, she started listening to punk rock music and shopped at Hot Topic, and was often labelled by her friends as “happy-emo” for putting on a smile despite her edgy appearance.
Crystal then interned at a vegan fashion company and realized that she was not alone in a community of other fellow vegan eaters who embraced the plant-based lifestyle. This experience led her to start an Instagram profile to stay in touch and become deeply engaged with the vegan community.
Currently, you can find Crystal trying out different vegan restaurants in New York City and occasionally posting various meals and smoothies at By CHLOE. or Peacefood Cafe. But although she still advocates for diminishing animal cruelty and abuse, she understands that being vegan also means simply keeping peace and harmony throughout our daily lives and loving the body we have by nurturing it with vegetables and other healthy dishes.
Crystal readily mentions that her “weird” and “quirky” personality is what made her become who she is today. And when asked about which famous person she loves the most, she says, “I love Tina Fey. I’ve always wanted to be funny and quirky, and seeing her, I always think, ‘That’s going to be me!'”
